I was born and grew up in Natchez, Mississippi. I attended elementary, high school, and community college there. After graduating from Copiah-Lincoln Community College in 1982 with an Associates Degree in Business/Accounting , I became a student of Mississippi College where I also studied business and accounting from 1982 to 1984. I met my husband on campus and we married in 1985. I did not return to school to finish my Accounting degree. My heart just wasn't into the business and accounting courses.
When I was in the first grade, the moment I stepped in to Ms Bessie Smith's class, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. When it was time for me to attend college, my parents "encouraged" me to pursue accounting rather than teaching. So after getting married, having two children, and at the age of 30, I decided to pursue my dream of teaching. The moment I stepped in to the classroom to do my student teaching, I knew I was where I was supposed to be!
My husband, Billy and I have been married for 33 years. We have three children, four grandchildren, and a Shih tzu, named Gracie Lu, who keep us very, very busy when we are not working. We have been residents of Holmes County for the past 12 years.
I am so happy to be one of the newest members of the Linwood Elementary family as a kindergarten teacher. I love our little school, its amazing staff and most of all, your precious children!
I have 22 years of experience in the teaching profession. Five of those years were in the Jackson Public School District as a self-contained third grade teacher. Fifteen of those years were in the Clinton Public School District teaching third grade self-contained and science/ math.
